Hello amazing Arcade community! Time for something a little different: a blog post from the ACT Board of Directors. You don’t hear from us often; our work isn’t as public or exciting as that of our super talented Creative Directors. But we’re always working behind the scenes to make sure that ACT is running along like a good non-profit arts organization should, slugging away on fun and sexy things like taxes, grants, leases, contracts, etc. And now we’re doing something BIG AND PUBLIC and we need your help.
Many of you have already heard about (and contributed to) Arcade Upgrade, our campaign to move into a larger space at 943 Liberty Avenue. We’re really pumped for this new chapter for the Arcade, and appreciative of the amazing support you all have given us. We need to raise a grand total of $35,000 to pay for all the new things we’ll need in the move (think lights, sound, chairs!). With your generous help, we’ve already raised over half of the funds! But as we get into the home stretch, we’re asking for your help again.
The Arcade Board will be matching all donations received during the week of May 1–7, up to a total of $2,000. To encourage you all to open up your wallets, we’re hosting a silent auction at all of the shows from May 4–7. The auction has some incredible items: private improv lessons with Arcade co-founder Kristy Nolen, performing on stage with house team Game Shark, a quest with the Knights of the Arcade, video production from the Big Deal (who made our amazing fundraiser video!), a VIP kids party with Penny Arcade, poster design from Arcade co-founder Mike Rubino, original art from some of our super talented performers, and baskets full of goodies from your favorite Arcade comedians. These are once in a lifetime, insider experiences, perfect for all lovers of Pittsburgh comedy!
We can’t wait to see you at shows this weekend!
